1kg A5 Miyazaki Wagyu Ribeye in Singapore: Why the KILO Feeds 4–6 and Is Becoming Armoury's Best Seller

The KILO is a 1kg A5 Miyazaki Wagyu Ribeye served at Armoury Steakhouse in Singapore. It serves 4–6 people, is reverse-seared in A5 wagyu tallow, arrives sliced from the kitchen, and is currently on track to become Armoury's best-selling steak — exactly as we predicted at launch.
Because thick-cut steaks lose significantly less moisture (and therefore weight) during searing than thin steaks, one 1kg KILO feeds more people per gram purchased than smaller cuts — which is why we recommend it for 4–6 pax, compared to our 500g BIG CUTs at 2 pax each.
That's the whole story in two paragraphs. Here's the detail.
What Is the KILO?
The KILO is a single, uncut 1 kilogram A5 Miyazaki Wagyu Ribeye — the thickest, largest-format steak on the Armoury menu and the top tier of our BIG CUT ladder.
Two things make it exceptional:
A5Â is the highest grade in the Japanese beef grading system, awarded only for top scores in marbling, colour, firmness and texture.
Miyazaki Prefecture is one of Japan's most decorated wagyu regions, a repeat overall champion at the national wagyu competition often called the "Wagyu Olympics."
Armoury pioneered the large-format sharing steak in Singapore with the BIG CUT format, and the KILO is its fullest expression: one steak, one kilogram, one table eating together.
How Many People Does a 1kg Wagyu Steak Feed?
A 1kg thick-cut wagyu ribeye comfortably feeds 4 to 6 people. A5 wagyu is intensely rich, so per-person portions are naturally smaller than for regular beef — roughly 150–250g of raw weight per diner is a satisfying share.
Compare the two ways a group of four can order at Armoury:
2 × 500g BIG CUT | 1 × KILO (1kg) | |
Recommended for | 2 pax each (4 pax total) | 4–6 pax |
Cut thickness | Thick | Thickest on the menu |
Weight lost to searing | Standard | Significantly less |
The experience | Two steaks, two centres | One centrepiece, one perfect edge-to-edge cook |
Same total weight — but the KILO stretches further, because of the physics below.
Why Do Thick-Cut Steaks Lose Less Weight When Cooked?
Searing drives moisture out of a steak, and moisture is weight. The thinner the steak, the greater its surface area relative to its volume — so thin steaks lose a larger percentage of their weight in the pan.
A 1kg thick cut flips that ratio. With far less surface area per gram, the KILO retains significantly more of its weight through the sear. The insulated centre also cooks gently and evenly to a blushing rose while the crust builds outside — the same reason the world's great steakhouses have always cut thick.
The practical takeaway: more of the wagyu you pay for is the wagyu you actually eat. The KILO isn't just more steak — it's more efficient steak, which is why one kilo genuinely serves 4–6 rather than 4.
How Does Armoury Cook the KILO?
Every KILO follows a fixed reverse-sear protocol: brought up to temperature low and slow, then finished with a hard, seconds-per-side sear in A5 wagyu tallow on screaming-hot cast iron.
A 1kg A5 ribeye is unforgiving — so we don't improvise. The result is a deep mahogany crust over an even, edge-to-edge rose-pink interior, with the famous Miyazaki marbling melted into the muscle.
And in true Armoury fashion, the KILO arrives already sliced. We never carve tableside — our kitchen slices at the peak moment so every piece reaches your table at its absolute best, ready to share.
Is the KILO Really Becoming Armoury's Best Seller?
Yes — and we called it at launch. Demand has climbed exactly as we expected: tables of four, five and six are now booking in specifically for the KILO, and it is firmly on its way to the top of the Armoury menu.
It's winning because it solves three things at once:
Value at the top end — thick-cut yield delivers more edible A5 per dollar than thinner formats.
The occasion — birthdays, deal closings, reunions. One kilo of A5 Miyazaki on the table is an event.
Consistency — one large cut on a fixed protocol cooks more evenly than several smaller steaks.
