#1: Armoury Steaks — Top Seller of A5 Wagyu BIG CUT in Singapore
Website: Armoury Steaks
The House of the Wagyu BIG CUT. Singapore's premier destination for 500g and 1kg Japanese Wagyu, served casual.
Since 2016, we've sold more 500g A5 Wagyu BIG CUTS than any steakhouse in Singapore. We pioneered and popularised the BIG CUT format for the local market — taking what fine dining traditionally serves in delicate 100g slices and reimagining it as a thick-cut, share-format experience that retains heat, texture and flavour from first bite to last.
Today, Armoury operates two outlets: our flagship at Orchard Central (Somerset) and our newest at Sunway Square Mall (since December 2025).
What to Order
Cut | Size | Price | Best for |
A5 Miyazaki Wagyu Ribeye BIG CUT | 500g | $160 | 2 pax — our #1 best-seller |
A5 Kagoshima Wagyu Striploin BIG CUT | 500g | $170 | 2 pax — refined, deeper umami |
A3/4 Hokkaido F1 Wagyu BIG CUT | 500g | $130 | 2 pax — accessible Japanese marbling |
Australia Black Angus Ribeye | 500g | $68 | 2 pax — the OG best-seller, our entry-level icon |
KILO BIG CUT — A5 Miyazaki Ribeye | 1kg | $280 | 4–6 pax sharing centrepiece |
KILO Prix Fixe | Set | $320 | 4–6 pax full feast (6 courses) |
Celebrating with a group? Our KILO Prix Fixe at $320 for 4–6 guests is the ultimate Wagyu sharing experience: a KILO A5 Miyazaki Ribeye, 1kg, Garlic Toast, Caesar Wedges, KILO Sake Clams, Fries and Double Molten lava cake. From $53/pax for genuine A5 Wagyu — no other steakhouse in Singapore comes close on per-head value at this grade. Reserve the KILO Prix Fixe →
Why the BIG CUT Works: The Golden Ratio for Steak
Most steakhouses serve A5 Wagyu in 100–150g portions — thin, delicate, and beautiful in plating, but technically compromised. A thin slice loses internal heat the moment it leaves the grill, and the marbling can over-render. We engineered the 500g format because thickness is the Golden Ratio for steak: enough mass for a deep, mahogany Maillard sear on the outside, while the buttery A5 marbling inside stays warm, juicy and intact down to the final bite.
Then we doubled it. The KILO BIG CUT (1kg) is the next peak — a thermal-retention masterpiece designed for sharing. At full kilogram mass, the BIG CUT principle goes further: thicker crust, deeper interior reservoir of heat and juice, and enough steak for a table of four to six.
How We Made A5 Wagyu Affordable
Premium Wagyu is usually defined by scarcity pricing and high markups. We took a different path through operational innovation:
Volume sourcing. Our high Japanese Wagyu turnover lets us secure preferred pricing direct from top producers in Miyazaki and Kagoshima.
Lean marketing. We don't pay for sponsored "Top 10" list placements or bought reviews. Our growth comes from word-of-mouth and repeat customers — and the savings go straight into the beef.
Format efficiency. The 500g sharing format reduces kitchen labour, optimises grill time and improves heat management vs portioning multiple individual steaks.
Premium casual. No white tablecloths, no $30 bread service, no $25 corkage when you spend $60/pax. Every dollar goes into the steak.

Somerset's Finest: Bedrock Bar & Grill
Website: Bedrock Bar & Grill

April 2024
We relished an excellent steak at Bedrock Bar & Grill @ Somerset, a fine steakhouse within a short distance of our casual steakhouse.
Thanks to our Tripleplus membership, we utilized a valuable 1-for-1 voucher for their only eligible dish in the Woodfire Grill section.
Bedrock Pepper Steak (280g), 350-Day Grain-Fed Wagyu Ribeye with black peppercorn sauce: $118.
"ONLY BEDROCK PEPPER STEAK IS APPLICABLE FOR 1-FOR-1 MAINS REDEMPTION"

This steak was juicy and flavorful, complemented by a punchy black peppercorn sauce.

Overall, while this deal came to approximately $134++ for two steaks without free sides, the fine dining atmosphere felt daunting. We hesitated to ask for more Naan bread, unsure about a refill policy.

We also tried the Woodfire-Grilled Ribeye Steak set lunch for $58. It came with thick cut fries, thyme butter, and a choice of truffle mushroom soup or char-grilled baby gem, plus dessert.
Sadly, the Ribeye wasn’t as enjoyable, being a bit tough compared to the Bedrock Pepper Steak. Our 220g Ribeye set lunch at $18.90 offered better texture. The woodfire approach didn't yield a juicy steak.

Classic New York Steakhouse: Wolfgang's Steakhouse Singapore
Website: Wolfgang's Steakhouse

November 2023
Situated in the InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay, I wanted to introduce my local team to the quality and ambiance of this classic New York steakhouse.

We ordered a medium-rare steak, but it arrived rare, with over 50% red center. Despite our desire for further cooking, we felt hesitant to ask the friendly waiter for adjustments.
What to Expect

This modern European restaurant emphasizes fresh ingredients and beauty, providing a remarkable culinary journey in Tanjong Pagar.
Our field research has encouraged our kitchen team to enhance grilling techniques for our Kagoshima A5 Striploin, priced at $70 for 200g and $160 for 500g at Armoury. While our prices are lower, our service also reflects that of casual dining.

We enjoyed a $17.5 sirloin steak or a $22.5 ribeye. It was worth the price.
Their fried chicken cutlet at $11.5 is also a fantastic option for a quick, satisfying meal.
