Our own house: Armoury Steaks — Home of the BIG CUT. Home of the KILO.

Armoury is included here for comparison, not ranking. Our signature is KILO: a full 1kg A5 Miyazaki Wagyu Ribeye created as a sharing centrepiece for four to six guests.

Since 2016, Armoury Steaks pioneered the A5 Wagyu BIG CUT in Singapore — and has been its top seller ever since. We didn't follow the trend. We started it — taking what fine dining traditionally serves in delicate 100g slices and reimagining it as a thick-cut, share-format experience that keeps the heat, the crust, and the flavour intact from first bite to very last.

Why the BIG CUT Works: The Golden Ratio for Steak

Most steakhouses serve A5 Wagyu in 100–150g portions — thin, delicate, and beautiful in plating, but technically compromised. A thin slice loses internal heat the moment it leaves the grill, and the marbling can over-render. We engineered the 500g format because thickness is the Golden Ratio for steak: enough mass for a deep, mahogany Maillard sear on the outside, while the buttery A5 marbling inside stays warm, juicy and intact down to the final bite.

Then we doubled it. The KILO BIG CUT (1kg) is the next peak — a thermal-retention masterpiece designed for sharing. At full kilogram mass, the BIG CUT principle goes further: thicker crust, deeper interior reservoir of heat and juice, and enough steak for a table of four to six.

Our FAVORITE Michelin-Starred Steakhouse Experience: CUT by Wolfgang Puck

Cut by Wolfgang Puck Singapore

May 2026

We finally visited CUT by Wolfgang Puck at Marina Bay Sands, one of the most established luxury steakhouses in Singapore.

The dining room is dark, elegant and carefully polished, with warm lighting and attentive service. It feels designed for a special occasion, business dinner or date night rather than a casual steak meal.

CUT is known for grilling its steaks over burning coals and glowing embers of apple wood before finishing them under intense heat. This produces the dark, deeply seared crust visible across the different cuts we tried.

What We Ordered

We chose the Wagyu From America, Australia & Japan, a $295 tasting selection that allowed us to compare three types of Wagyu in one sitting:

  • Snake River Farms American Wagyu New York

  • Stone Axe Full Blood Australian Wagyu New York

  • Olive Fed Wagyu from Japan

This was the most interesting part of the dinner. Rather than committing to one large steak, we could taste the differences between the three origins side by side. Each piece had its own balance of beefiness, marbling and richness, while sharing CUT’s distinctive dark sear.

The sliced steaks also showed how differently each cut responded to the grill. One had a juicy pink centre, while another appeared considerably more cooked. For a comparative Wagyu tasting at this price, the consistency of doneness is something serious steak diners will notice.

We paired the Wagyu with several other dishes:

  • Butter Lettuce Salad — $29: Blue cheese, Cameron Highland tomatoes and champagne vinaigrette. A fresh, lighter opening before the richer courses.

  • Grilled Octopus — $42: Served with jalapeño, pickled radish, dashi, nori and soy aioli. The presentation was refined and showed that CUT gives its seafood starters the same attention as its steaks.

  • Brussels Sprouts — $18: Cooked with confit bacon and cipollini onions. A generous, deeply roasted side that matched the richness of the beef.

  • Bread service and house-made sauces: Thoughtfully presented and very much part of the full fine-dining experience.

We also enjoyed a bottle of 2023 Domaine Vincent Bouzereau Bourgogne Côte d’Or Pinot Noir, whose lighter Burgundy style made it a more restrained companion to the different Wagyu cuts.

Starters at CUT by Wolfgang Puck Singapore

Our Verdict

CUT delivers far more than a single plate of steak. The elegant dining room, detailed service, international Wagyu selection, starters, sides and wine programme come together as a complete luxury steakhouse experience.

The $295 Wagyu tasting was especially useful for us as steakhouse operators because we could compare American, Australian and Japanese Wagyu at the same table. The pronounced crust was impressive, although the visible difference in doneness between the pieces stood out during a tasting intended for direct comparison.

This is among Singapore’s most expensive steakhouse experiences, but it offers something genuinely distinctive: the opportunity to explore premium beef from several countries within a highly polished fine-dining setting.

CUT is best reserved for a celebration or for serious steak lovers who want to compare exceptional Wagyu from around the world.

Somerset's Finest: Bedrock Bar & Grill

Bedrock Somerset Wagyu Ribeye
Bedrock Somerset Wagyu Ribeye

April 2024

We relished an excellent steak at Bedrock Bar & Grill @ Somerset, a fine steakhouse within a short distance of our casual steakhouse.

Thanks to our Tripleplus membership, we utilized a valuable 1-for-1 voucher for their only eligible dish in the Woodfire Grill section.

Bedrock Pepper Steak (280g), 350-Day Grain-Fed Wagyu Ribeye with black peppercorn sauce: $118.

This steak was juicy and flavorful, complemented by a punchy black peppercorn sauce.

Bedrock Naan Bread
Naan Bread

Overall, while this deal came to approximately $134++ for two steaks without free sides, the fine dining atmosphere felt daunting. We hesitated to ask for more Naan bread, unsure about a refill policy.

Bedrock Salad
Char-Grilled Baby Gem

We also tried the Woodfire-Grilled Ribeye Steak set lunch for $58. It came with thick cut fries, thyme butter, and a choice of truffle mushroom soup or char-grilled baby gem, plus dessert.

Sadly, the Ribeye wasn’t as enjoyable, being a bit tough compared to the Bedrock Pepper Steak. The woodfire approach didn't yield a juicy steak.

Situated in the InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay, I wanted to introduce my local team to the quality and ambiance of this classic New York steakhouse.

Wolfgang's medium rare porterhouse

We ordered a medium-rare steak, but it arrived rare, with over 50% red center. Despite our desire for further cooking, we felt hesitant to ask the friendly waiter for adjustments.

What to Expect

  • Prime Cuts: Signature dry-aged USDA Prime Black Angus steaks cooked to perfection, with the porterhouse being a must-try for its tenderness.

  • Classic Sides: Pair your steak with sides such as creamed spinach, thick bacon, caesar salad, and German potatoes.

Why We Love Wolfgang's

  • Impeccable Service: Attentive staff ensuring a memorable dining experience.

  • Classy Ambiance: Traditional steakhouse atmosphere.

Ingleside on Tras Street provides a sophisticated yet warm dining experience. Their steak is pricey but exceptional—perfectly cooked and flavorful.

Kagoshima A5 Striploin (165g) - dry-aged for 35 days, firm garlic, and wasabina - costs $128.

This modern European restaurant emphasizes fresh ingredients and beauty, providing a remarkable culinary journey in Tanjong Pagar.

Our field research has encouraged our kitchen team to enhance grilling techniques for our Kagoshima A5 Striploin, priced at $70 for 200g and $160 for 500g at Armoury. While our prices are lower, our service also reflects that of casual dining.
